In a powerful address at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, President Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, urged for a comprehensive Arab and Islamic approach to counter Israeli expansionist policies and regional dominance.
President Alimi highlighted the ongoing genocide in Gaza, which continues without accountability. He emphasized that the lack of deterrence has emboldened Israeli forces to attack Qatar. This alarming trend underscores the urgent need for collective action among Arab nations.
The President pointed out that Israeli attacks have targeted Yemen’s resources, responding to cross-border assaults by Houthi militias. This situation has militarized the Red Sea and turned Yemen into a battleground for external supporters, exacerbating the conflict.
Alimi stated that the geopolitical challenges we face today reveal a troubling connection between regional expansionist states and armed terrorist groups. Both entities provide justifications for each other’s actions, undermining national sovereignty and fueling regional conflict.
To address these challenges, President Alimi proposed a three-pronged strategy for Arab and Islamic cooperation:
A Just Solution for Palestine: He called for a fair and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Support for National Institutions: The President emphasized the importance of politically, economically, and security supporting national institutions while collectively combating armed terrorist groups.
Deterrence Against Rogue States: Alimi stressed the need to deter rogue states with expansionist agendas, particularly Israel, while enhancing Arab and Islamic integration.
The President asserted that guaranteeing national sovereignty for stable countries and accelerating the path toward an independent Palestinian state requires collective action to assist fragile nations.
In this context, Alimi expressed gratitude to the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen, which exemplifies Arab solidarity in countering foreign threats. He also praised the Gulf Cooperation Council’s statement supporting economic and institutional reforms in Yemen.
President Alimi acknowledged the successes of Arab diplomacy, particularly under Saudi leadership, in achieving significant political recognition for Palestine. He welcomed the historic UN General Assembly resolution supporting the two-state solution and called for its swift implementation.
Yemen reaffirms its full support for Qatari, Egyptian, and American mediation efforts, as well as the Arab initiative for Gaza’s reconstruction, which aims to address the aftermath of destruction while preventing displacement scenarios.
In closing, President Alimi wished for the success of the extraordinary summit hosted by Qatar, emphasizing the importance of unity among Arab nations in facing all threats and challenges.
Peace be upon you.
