On Friday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He was accompanied by council member Othman Mujalli. During this official visit, President Alimi will engage in discussions with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan regarding the latest developments in Yemen and the bilateral relations between the two brotherly nations.
Warm Welcome at Al Bateen Airport
Upon arrival at Al Bateen Airport, President Alimi and his delegation received a warm welcome. The UAE’s Minister of Justice, Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, along with the UAE Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Hamad Al Zaabi, and Yemen’s Ambassador to the UAE, Fahd Al-Munhali, were present to greet them. Members of the embassy also joined in the reception.
Significance of the Visit
In a statement to the Yemeni news agency Saba, President Alimi highlighted the importance of this visit, which coincides with the national celebrations of both countries. He emphasized the need for cooperation to achieve security, stability, and peace in Yemen and the broader region amid local and regional changes.
Acknowledgment of UAE Support
President Alimi praised the steadfast support from the UAE, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other rulers. He expressed gratitude for their assistance to the Yemeni people and legitimate leadership in alleviating the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
Delegation Members
The delegation accompanying President Alimi includes Omar Al-Amoudi, a consultant to the Presidential Leadership Council and a member of the House of Representatives, as well as Dr. Shaaib Al-Zandani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the ties between Yemen and the UAE, focusing on collaborative efforts to address pressing challenges and foster regional stability.
