On Saturday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened in the temporary capital of Aden with the Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee, Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, and his deputies: Abdulmalik Al-Makhlafi, Sakhr Al-Wajih, Jamila Ali Rajea, and Akram Al-Amari.
The meeting focused on the latest national developments and emphasized the importance of unity among various factions. Participants discussed strategies to strengthen national partnership and consensus, aligning with the transitional phase’s reference points.
The discussion also covered regional developments and their potential implications for Yemen. The leaders explored necessary efforts to enhance the isolation of terrorist militias and unify the visions and objectives of all national forces. Their goal is to restore state institutions and reinforce Yemen’s ties to its Gulf and Arab surroundings.
President Alimi praised the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee for its role in fostering dialogue and unity. He recognized the committee’s support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in completing economic and administrative reforms. The President highlighted the need to mobilize resources to tackle intertwined challenges.
In this context, President Alimi commended the government and the Central Bank for making significant progress in price and monetary reforms. He expressed gratitude for the support from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which has bolstered state institutions and restored donor community confidence. This support aims to improve living conditions and alleviate the humanitarian crisis caused by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
President Alimi emphasized the need for responsible discourse in the battle for awareness. He called for active diplomatic efforts and effective media strategies to dismantle misleading narratives and expose the Houthi militias’ violations and their ties to the Iranian regime. Strengthening global trust in state institutions is crucial for achieving security and stability.
The President reaffirmed the council’s and the government’s commitment to taking necessary measures to strengthen the internal front. He stressed the importance of unifying republican forces and addressing any disparities within the framework of the state and the rule of law. The focus remains on restoring state institutions and alleviating suffering.
President Alimi warned the Houthi militias against continuing severe human rights violations, including the arbitrary detention of UN staff and humanitarian organizations. He held the international community accountable for the ongoing violations and the impunity of their perpetrators.
The President urged the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee to intensify its efforts in the coming phase. He emphasized the need to activate its field mechanisms and engage effectively with state authorities and institutions to support the Presidential Leadership Council and the government at all levels.
During the meeting, President Alimi received updates from the Chairman and deputies of the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee regarding their activities over the past period. They reported on their efforts to promote dialogue, consensus, and communication with various political and social components, aiming to support comprehensive reforms and expand national participation.
The leadership of the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee reaffirmed its full support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in fulfilling their constitutional duties.
