Security Committee in Taiz Discusses Current Developments

The Security Committee of Taiz Governorate convened today under the leadership of Governor Nabil Shamsan. The meeting focused on recent security and military developments in the national landscape. This gathering follows directives from the National Defense Council and aims to implement political leadership instructions to enhance security, stability, and protect state institutions.

Assessment of Security Performance in Taiz

During the meeting, which included the presence of Major General Mohammed Ibrahim, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Judge Mohammed Sultan, Head of the Appeals Prosecution, attendees reviewed reports on the current security performance. They discussed the readiness of security forces to fulfill their duties in maintaining peace and stability. Additionally, they emphasized the need for ongoing coordination with military leadership to address various challenges.

Houthi Escalation and External Threats

Governor Shamsan highlighted the rapid developments in the country, particularly the escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militia. He warned against the militia’s attempts to drag Yemen into further conflict to serve external agendas. This includes threats to international shipping and attacks on national economic interests.

Political Leadership’s Efforts to Strengthen Sovereignty

Governor Shamsan underscored the efforts of President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and council members in maintaining state sovereignty and resuming oil exports. He affirmed that these efforts contribute to improving citizens’ living conditions, despite ongoing threats from terrorist militias targeting economic facilities and shipping routes.

The Need for Internal Unity

The governor stressed that the current phase requires unifying the internal front and enhancing security and military readiness. He emphasized the importance of improving coordination between security and military agencies and preparing for any emergencies under a unified national action framework. Shamsan noted that Taiz has suffered significantly due to the war, with thousands of martyrs and wounded, while its residents continue to demonstrate bravery against the Houthi militia.

The meeting concluded with participants reaffirming the importance of integrating roles among various state institutions and committing to implementing political leadership directives. They also emphasized the necessity of strengthening national alignment to support the decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council and the National Defense Council, ensuring the protection of national sovereignty and improving citizens’ living conditions.
