The Ibb Governorate, currently under Houthi control, faces escalating security chaos. Recently, a citizen was shot dead by an armed assailant in one of the province’s towns. This incident occurs amid a surge in attacks by armed gangs targeting residents’ homes across several districts.
Local sources report that an individual named Mohammed Ahmed Naji shot and killed Ibrahim Ali Mohammed Saleh Al-Faqih in the village of Al-Abrah, located in the Al-Sayani district. The altercation arose over a dispute concerning a barren piece of land. Following the crime, the perpetrator fled the scene but was apprehended shortly thereafter.
This tragic event follows the brutal torture and murder of another citizen in the village of Al-Asha just days earlier, highlighting the alarming trend of violence in the area.
In a related development, residents from the village of Al-Mouqeen in the Al-Hadis isolation reported renewed armed assaults on their homes. They accused local Houthi affiliates of orchestrating these attacks, which have caused significant damage to several properties.
Additionally, inhabitants in the districts of Al-Sabra and Al-Makhader reported gunfire directed at their homes by armed individuals linked to local gangs supported by Houthi leaders. Notably, the homes of citizen Issam Shaddad and one of his neighbors in the Al-Maqnuda area of Al-Makhader faced direct targeting.
In the Al-Sabra district, local sources confirmed the presence of similar gangs firing at homes in the Ainain market, instilling fear among women and children. Residents continue to call for action against these rogue elements to restore order and curb the growing security crisis.
The Ibb Governorate, under Houthi control, grapples with widespread security disorder, marked by rampant gang activity and criminal offenses. Additionally, land disputes are escalating across various districts, further exacerbating the hardships faced by the local population.
