University of Saba Launches New Language Programs

The University of Saba has officially launched programs in Chinese, Turkish, and French today. This initiative marks a significant expansion of the university’s Language and Translation Center.

Notable Guests Attend the Launch

The launch event featured prominent attendees, including French Ambassador to Yemen Catherine Colonna, Turkish Deputy Ambassador Jihad Kocak, Cultural Advisor at the Yemeni Embassy in Paris Khalil Habishi, and Cultural Attaché Dr. Mohammed Al-Ahmadi from the Yemeni Embassy in China. University President Dr. Mohammed Al-Qudsi emphasized the center’s role as a vital academic and community resource. He stated that languages serve as tools for influence and partnership, fostering understanding and building bridges of peace among nations.

Responding to Community Needs

Dr. Al-Qudsi highlighted that the selection of these three languages responds to the Yemeni community’s need to engage with significant cultural and economic forces globally. He urged the center to evolve into an international platform for education and cultural exchange, expanding its academic and research partnerships.

Dr. Farouk Al-Sabari, Dean of the Language and Translation Center, described the day as a transformative moment for the center. He noted the shift from a foundational phase to one focused on expansion and impact. The center aims to provide linguistic expertise that benefits both students and the community, enhancing global communication.

The introduction of these new languages reflects the university’s commitment to equipping a generation with competitive skills for both local and international job markets. The launch event was attended by several key figures, including Dr. Ali Al-Rimah, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Hussein Al-Mousai, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Badour Al-Maawari, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Othman Al-Aradah, Secretary-General of the university. Numerous deans and heads of academic departments also participated in the event.

This new initiative at the University of Saba not only enhances educational offerings but also strengthens cultural ties and academic collaboration, paving the way for a more interconnected future.
