Project Masam Removes 839 Landmines in One Week, Enhancing Safety in Yemen’s Liberated Areas

In a noteworthy accomplishment, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s Project Masam reported the removal of 839 landmines during the first week of May 2026. These mines, which were planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, were discovered in various Yemeni governorates, as outlined in an official statement from the center.

Details of the Removed Mines

Project Masam provided specific details regarding the types of mines that were successfully removed:

  • 95 anti-tank mines
  • 12 anti-personnel mines
  • 721 unexploded ordnance
  • 11 explosive devices

With this latest operation, the cumulative total of mines removed since the project’s inception has reached an impressive 558,855. These mines were indiscriminately planted to target civilians, including vulnerable populations such as children, women, and the elderly, instilling fear in areas previously considered safe.

Field Achievements in the Midi Region

In related news, the Operations Room of Project Masam confirmed that teams have successfully removed 9,427 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices specifically in the Midi region since the commencement of their operations. These ongoing efforts are integral to enhancing civilian safety and restoring normalcy in liberated areas.
