Yemen's Leadership Council President Meets with Reconciliation and Consultation Body

Strategic Dialogues for National Unity

In a significant meeting held on Monday, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, the President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, convened with Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, the head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority, along with his deputies Sakhr Al-Wajeeh, Jamila Ali Raja, and Akram Al-Amiri. This gathering underscores the ongoing efforts to foster political, economic, social, and media cooperation towards national reconciliation and unity.

The discussions centered around the Authority’s recent activities aimed at fulfilling its mandate as outlined in the power transfer declaration. The leaders reviewed current and future programs designed to bridge differences among various political factions and national forces, with the ultimate goal of reinstating state institutions and countering the coup.

Praise for Reconciliation Efforts

President Al-Alimi lauded the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority’s support for the Council, highlighting its institutional building, leadership stability, and the key roles of its committees in internal operations. He affirmed the state’s commitment to enhancing the Authority’s effective presence in narrowing viewpoints and bolstering trust among all national components.

Addressing Local Challenges and International Diplomacy

The President briefed the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority’s leadership on the latest local developments, priorities, and necessary reforms to strengthen unity. He emphasized the need to confront financial and humanitarian pressures exacerbated by the Houthi militia’s terrorist attacks—backed by the Iranian regime—on oil facilities and international shipping lanes, which have depleted the state’s treasury by approximately 70% of its main resources.

Moreover, President Al-Alimi shared outcomes from his meetings with regional and international actors, highlighting efforts by allies and friends to reduce economic escalation and revive the political process based on a roadmap proposed by Saudi Arabia.

Focus on Taiz and Hadramout Provinces

The President also shared insights from his recent visit to Taiz Province, stressing the importance of building on this visit to bolster the government’s stance at all levels within the province. Additionally, he touched upon his trip to Hadramout Province, meetings with local authority leaders, political party representatives, societal forces, and efforts to address legitimate demands of the residents, enhancing the province’s historical stature as a model of state presence and rule of law.

This meeting exemplifies Yemen’s concerted efforts to navigate through its complex political landscape, aiming for reconciliation and unity amidst challenging circumstances.
