Taiz Plays a Pivotal Role in Yemen's National Equation, President Al-Alimi Affirms

Taiz, Yemen – In a significant meeting held at Taiz University on Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, underscored the central role of Taiz in shaping the nation’s future. The city, known for its resistance movements and as a cradle of national liberation, continues to be a beacon of change and resilience in the face of adversity.

A Gathering of Minds

The event saw the participation of key council members, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi and Sheikh Osman Majali, alongside local authority leaders and representatives from various political, civil, women’s, and youth groups in the province of Taiz. President Al-Alimi highlighted Taiz’s historical contribution to the nation’s struggle for freedom and its ongoing fight against oppression.

Honoring the Heroes

The meeting commenced with a moment of silence for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for liberty and the republic. President Al-Alimi expressed deep appreciation for the warm welcome received during their visit and acknowledged the collective efforts of the local leadership, armed forces, security services, and political factions in organizing the event.

A Tribute to Taiz’s Legacy

President Al-Alimi reminisced about Taiz’s illustrious sons and daughters who have been instrumental in the fight against tyranny. He emphasized the city’s enduring legacy as a hub of transformation, resilience, and rejection of racism and despotism. The president also highlighted Taiz’s role in supporting the liberation movements across Yemen, both in the north and south.

Challenges and Commitments

The president laid out the pressing challenges faced by the residents of Taiz, particularly in accessing basic services like electricity and water. He stressed that sustainable development in these areas is crucial for restoring stability and prosperity to Yemen. Al-Alimi assured that improving the living conditions in Taiz and supporting its steadfast people remains a top priority.

Initiatives and Support

Dr. Al-Alimi announced the launch of over 260 vital projects, supported by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and local authorities, aimed at enhancing the province’s infrastructure and services. He acknowledged the limited opportunities for achieving all of Taiz’s ambitions due to recent attacks on the country’s oil facilities but remained hopeful thanks to international support.

Looking Ahead

In closing, President Al-Alimi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to monitoring the performance of local authorities and ensuring the effective delivery of services. He also pledged to address the needs of the wounded and to clear civilian institutions of armed presence. The president encouraged the pursuit of renewable energy projects and urged universities to focus on technical and specialized fields, including artificial intelligence.

Unity and Resolve

The meeting underscored the importance of unity and perseverance in overcoming the challenges facing Taiz and the broader Yemeni nation. President Al-Alimi’s visit not only highlighted the strategic significance of Taiz in Yemen’s national narrative but also set the stage for further collaboration and development efforts to rebuild the war-torn country.
