New Yemeni Ambassador Sworn in to Germany

On February 10, 2025, Luwai Yahya Abdulrahman Al-Eryani took the oath of office as Yemen’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. The ceremony took place at the Yemeni Embassy in Riyadh, under the auspices of President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council.

Meeting with the President

Following the oath, President Al-Alimi met with Ambassador Al-Eryani. During their discussion, the President emphasized the importance of the ambassador’s role in representing Yemen in Berlin. He urged Al-Eryani to fully embrace his responsibilities, which include safeguarding the interests of Yemen and serving its citizens residing in Germany. The President highlighted the need to strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between Yemen and Germany.

Diplomatic Reforms and International Support

President Al-Alimi praised the ongoing reforms within Yemen’s diplomatic sector. He stressed the necessity of enhancing the diplomatic mission’s role in rallying international support for Yemen. The President called for continued unity among the international community in backing the Yemeni people’s aspirations to restore state institutions and end the Houthi insurgency, which is backed by the Iranian regime.

The meeting also included Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, the Director of the Presidential Office, and Dr. Sha’if Al-Zandani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs. Their presence underscored the significance of the ambassador’s new role and the collective commitment to Yemen’s diplomatic efforts.

This appointment marks a pivotal moment in Yemen’s diplomatic landscape, as the country seeks to strengthen its international relations and advocate for its national interests on the global stage.
