Minister Criticizes Houthi Leadership

Yemen’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, recently criticized the Houthi militia leaders, who he claims are trying to project an image of resilience against Iranian influence. Al-Eryani stated that these leaders appeared on television and social media over the past few days, attempting to argue that Yemen is distinct from Syria and Lebanon. He emphasized that the significant collapse of Iranian-backed forces will not repeat itself, while they conveniently overlook their own history of crimes against the Yemeni people and their terrorist activities that threaten regional and international security.

Yemen’s National Identity Remains Strong

In a press statement, Al-Eryani asserted that Yemen will not remain isolated from regional developments nor be held hostage by Iran. He declared that the Yemeni flag will fly over every inch of the nation, despite the Houthis’ attempts to instill fear through violence and destruction. He pointed out that the Houthis have mobilized ideologically driven elements for over a decade to promote their extremist agenda.

Public Support for Houthi Agenda is a Mirage

Al-Eryani dismissed the Houthis’ claims of popular support for their coup as mere illusions that will dissipate in the face of the Yemeni people’s will. He emphasized that the Yemeni population, which has endured the ravages of war and destruction due to the coup, will not accept any form of guardianship or allow their land to become a battleground for settling regional and international scores.

Historical Lessons Reinforce National Unity

He highlighted that past experiences, including those in Syria, demonstrate that the will of the people cannot be crushed by threats, oppression, or violence. The deeply rooted national and Arab identity will remain intact. Al-Eryani expressed confidence that the Yemeni people, across all factions, will unite around their national values to heal their wounds and rebuild their war-torn country without Iranian oversight.
