Minister of Information condemns Houthi militia’s bombing of a civilian’s home in Sabr al-Mawadim, Taiz.

Yemen’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, has vehemently condemned and denounced the heinous act committed by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, involving the bombing of civilian Ahmed Abduh Said Hassan Al-Sharif’s home in the village of Al-Jirat Abdan, located in the Sabr Al-Mawadim district of Taiz province. This atrocious act sheds light once more on the militia’s criminal nature and exposes the falsehood behind its claims of championing the cause of Gaza. Al-Eryani emphasized that the crimes and violations committed by the Houthis against Yemenis are no less criminal and horrific than the practices of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.

In a press statement, Al-Eryani highlighted that since their coup, the Houthi militia has systematically adopted a policy of house bombings and forced displacement of residents as a means to terrorize citizens and retaliate against its opponents. This includes the bombing of more than 18 homes in the village of Beit Al-Jindabi, Arhab district, in a single day in 2014, as part of their attempts to break the will of the Yemeni people and subjugate them to their coup project and extremist ideas imported from Iran.

Al-Eryani pointed out that human rights organizations have documented the Houthi militia’s bombing of 900 homes belonging to state leaders, military and security personnel, politicians, journalists, sheikhs, and citizens across 16 Yemeni provinces, revealing their true face as a terrorist organization. He stressed that the Houthis are an instrument of killing and destruction, incapable of coexistence, and can never be a genuine partner in peace-building.

Furthermore, Al-Eryani called on the international community, the United Nations, its special envoy, and human rights organizations to explicitly condemn this abhorrent crime, which constitutes an act of war and a crime against humanity. He urged for immediate action to classify the Houthi militia as a “global terrorist organization,” to cut off its financial, political, and media sources, and to concentrate efforts on supporting the government in asserting its control and establishing security and stability throughout the nation.
