Hadhramaut Prepares for Tropical Wave Impacts

In a significant meeting held today in Seiyun city, key officials, led by Hadhramaut Governorate’s Deputy for the Affairs of the Valley and Desert Directorates, Amer Al-Ameri, deliberated on strategies to combat the potential impacts of an incoming tropical wave on the valley and desert directorates of Hadhramaut.

Emergency Preparedness in Focus

The gathering, which included notable figures such as Seiyun Directorate General Manager Khaled Balfas, Public Works and Roads Manager Alawi Bin Yahya, Electricity Corporation Manager Khaled Baharish, Public Health and Population Manager Hani Al-Amoudi, Sanitation and Improvement Fund Manager Marai Al-Katheri, Seiyun International Airport Manager Ali Bakathir, and local Public Works Managers Hassan Talal and Mohsen Al-Saqaf, reviewed the preparedness of relevant entities for emergency situations.

Deputy Governor Al-Ameri instructed the directorate general managers and emergency committees to enhance their readiness to face the effects of the tropical wave. He emphasized the importance of monitoring the tropical situation closely and establishing direct communication lines with the joint operations room and early warning centers.

Weather Alert Issued

The Early Warning Center in Hadhramaut issued a weather alert, forecasting unsettled weather conditions over the governorate due to the influence of an eastern tropical wave. This seasonal phenomenon, accompanied by a moist air mass, is expected to affect central and western parts of the governorate over the next 72 hours, with the possibility of extending into the end of the current and following week.

This proactive approach by Hadhramaut’s officials underscores the region’s commitment to safeguarding its residents against natural disasters, ensuring that the necessary measures are in place to mitigate the impacts of such weather phenomena.
