US Army destroys two Houthi missiles, four drones in Yemen

The United States military announced on Friday that it had destroyed two missiles and four drones belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen.

According to a statement released on the X platform by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces successfully demolished two surface-to-air missiles and four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the ground within areas under Houthi control in Yemen over the past 24 hours.

The statement highlighted that these weapons were destroyed after they were determined to pose an “imminent threat to the United States, coalition forces, and commercial shipping in the region.”

CENTCOM noted that such actions are taken to safeguard freedom of navigation and to ensure that international waters remain protected and more secure.

In related news, Houthi media outlets reported early on Thursday that American and British aircraft conducted three airstrikes on the Hodeidah airport in western Yemen, though further details were not provided.

This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by the United States and its allies to counter threats in the region and maintain security for international maritime activities.
