In its ongoing efforts to clear landmines in Yemen, Team 37 of the “Masam” mine clearance project successfully removed 180 anti-tank mines and three explosive devices. These operations took place in farms located north of the Midi district in Hajjah Governorate, where the team cleared approximately 300,000 square meters of agricultural land.
According to a statement from the “Masam” media office, this operation occurred in farms adjacent to populated villages. These efforts form part of a continuous series of operations aimed at restoring hope for farmers, enabling them to return to their lands and resume daily activities in a safer environment.
Since its inception in the Midi district, the “Masam” project has successfully removed 10,622 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices. Additionally, the teams have cleared a total area of 3,662,206 square meters of land, significantly contributing to enhanced security and stability in the region.
The mine clearance initiatives by “Masam” hold immense significance. They protect civilians and create a safer environment for farmers. The project empowers local communities to reclaim their normal lives and utilize their agricultural lands without the threat of landmines.
