Yemen's Presidential Council Initiates Committee to Address Hadhramaut Province Demands

Formation of a Presidential Committee

In a significant move, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, the President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, has directed the formation of a presidential committee. This committee is tasked with examining the demands of the residents of Hadhramaut Province, proposing solutions in accordance with the law. This decision stems from commitments and understandings previously announced with the local authority and political entities within the province.

The committee boasts a diverse membership, including Dr. Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, Ministers Salem bin Breik and Tariq Al-Akbari, Sheikhs Saleh Salem Al-Amiri, Abdullah Saleh Al-Katheri, General Abdul Rahim Ahmed Atiq, Sheikh Marouf bin Abdullah Baabad, Sheikh Saleh bin Omar Al-Sharafi, and Dr. Mohammed Salem Bahabri. The President has empowered the committee to fully perform its duties for the public good and to bolster the role of the local authority.

A Response to National Responsibility

The President’s directive follows recent presidential visit agreements to Hadhramaut, reflecting a national responsibility and a desire to involve all components in overcoming the current financial crisis’s repercussions. The crisis, exacerbated by Houthi militia terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes, has significantly impacted the province.

Commitment to Stability and Development

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed appreciation for the local authority and political components’ efforts to maintain unity, avoid tensions or internal disputes, and focus on development and alleviating citizens’ suffering. He reaffirmed the Council and government’s commitment to enhancing the security, stability, and prosperity of Hadhramaut, aiming to set an exemplary model at all levels.

This initiative highlights the Yemeni government’s ongoing efforts to address regional demands and challenges, emphasizing collaboration and legal frameworks to ensure the well-being and development of its provinces.
