Leadership Council Head affirms commitment to empowering women in decision-making and peace-building efforts.

President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, reaffirmed the council’s and the government’s commitment to enhancing women’s roles and empowering them to participate in decision-making and peacebuilding, which all Yemenis deserve.

This commitment was reiterated during his meeting on Thursday at the Presidential Palace in the city of Mukalla, Hadhramaut province, with the women’s sector in the presence of the Governor, Mabkhout bin Madi.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Leadership Council extended his respect and appreciation to all Yemeni women who bear the brunt of the war ignited by the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council assured that the council and government understand the demand for empowering Hadhramaut women in work and leadership roles, both locally and centrally. He indicated that efforts would be made to meet these demands based on professional capabilities and legal standards.

President Al-Alimi expressed satisfaction with reports indicating that Hadhramaut women are making significant progress in economic, political, and charitable participation daily. He noted that while these achievements are not sufficient, they promise a bright future.

He also acknowledged the risks and challenges facing Hadhramaut families, which require doubling women’s roles on multiple fronts. In this context, he pointed to the dangers of extremism spread by terrorist organizations, the recruitment of youth into Houthi militia zones, and other risks such as drugs and poverty, emphasizing the crucial role of women in addressing and combating these challenges.
