Enhancing Humanitarian Programs in Lahj Province
Collaboration to Boost Health Sector Initiatives
In a significant meeting today, the Governor of Lahj Province, Major General Ahmed Turki, discussed with the Deputy Country Director of the international organization CSI, Dr. Suad Al-Hatari, strategies to amplify the organization’s humanitarian interventions across the districts of Lahj Province. Their conversation focused on implementing both emergency and sustainable human development projects, particularly within the province’s health sector.
The meeting, attended by Dr. Khaled Jaber, the General Director of the Ministry of Public Health and Population in Lahj, and Dr. Areej Banaga, the Technical Director of Health Services at the organization, saw Governor Turki praising CSI’s humanitarian efforts in the province. He encouraged the organization to expand its support for developmental processes, especially emphasizing the need for rehabilitation and restoration of the student housing and lecture halls at the Institute of Health Sciences. Turki reaffirmed the local authority’s commitment to facilitating the organization’s operations.
Future Plans and Site Visits
Following the discussions, CSI’s representative visited the Institute of Health Sciences. There, briefed by the Director of the Ministry of Public Health and Population, she assessed the institute’s urgent needs, which will be considered in the organization’s upcoming action plans.
Launch of the Academic Year
In a related development, Governor Turki, alongside Dr. Wael Shakri, Vice President of Lahj University for Student Affairs, and Dr. Abdul Fattah Al-Shuaibi, Dean of the Sabir College of Science and Education at the university, inaugurated the new academic year (2024/2025). The college offers eight scientific specialties. Turki commended the college’s administration for its excellent preparation for the new year and noted the smooth integration of students into their studies.
