Iran’s Military Support for Houthi Militias: A Growing Concern
Minister’s Statement Highlights Iranian Influence
The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, recently emphasized the alarming implications of a message from Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commander General Mohammad Pakpour to the Iranian-backed Houthi militias. This communication followed the death of Houthi leader Mohammad Abdul Karim Al-Ghamari and signifies Iran’s overt control over the militia, positioning them as an integral part of the Revolutionary Guard’s operations.
Iran’s Military Commitment to the Houthis
In a press statement, Al-Eryani noted that Pakpour’s announcement of the Revolutionary Guard’s readiness to enhance military support for the Houthis reveals the next phase of Iran’s agenda in Yemen and the broader region. He asserted that the situation in Sana’a is effectively managed from Tehran, with decisions regarding war and peace emanating from the offices of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Continued Iranian Aggression
Al-Eryani pointed out that these statements, coupled with the ongoing shipments of Iranian weapons and drugs, demonstrate Tehran’s failure to learn from past lessons. Instead of reassessing its aggressive policies in the region, Iran continues to escalate its destructive activities. The minister warned that Iran aims to transform Yemen into a battleground, using it as a base to advance its chaotic agenda and threaten regional and international security, as well as global trade.
Exposing the Houthi Narrative
The minister further explained that the Iranian message clearly indicates Tehran’s use of the Houthi militia as a tactical arm in its conflicts with regional and global powers, often under the guise of supporting the “Palestinian cause” and opposing “global arrogance.” This revelation undermines the narrative the Houthis have promoted for a decade, claiming their struggle is one of national liberation. In reality, Al-Eryani argued, it is a dirty war funded and directed by Iran to serve its nefarious expansionist goals in the region.
A Critical Turning Point
The death of Al-Ghamari, who served as a crucial military link between the Houthis and Tehran, has exposed the extent of the Houthis’ dependency on Iran. This incident compelled the Revolutionary Guard to publicly reaffirm its control and connection with the militia. Al-Eryani described these developments as a pivotal moment, underscoring that the conflict with the Houthis transcends internal Yemeni issues. It represents a direct confrontation with the Iranian project, which uses Yemen as a platform to threaten regional and international peace.
Call for Unified Action
In light of these developments, Al-Eryani urged for a decisive Arab and international stance to dismantle the Revolutionary Guard’s influence and disrupt its terrorist networks before the flames of conflict spread further across the region.
This article highlights the escalating military support from Iran to the Houthi militias, emphasizing the need for a united response to counteract the growing threat to regional stability.
