Information Minister condemns Houthi militia’s armed eviction of Sheikh Shaker Al-Hatary’s family from their home.

Yemeni Minister Condemns Houthi Militia's Violent Home Invasion

Sanaa Incident Highlights Ongoing Violence

Yemen’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar al-Eryani, has strongly condemned the violent invasion of Sheikh Shaker Hassan al-Hatari’s home by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in the nation’s capital, Sanaa. The militants forcibly entered the residence, breaking doors and windows, looting its contents, and expelling the family at gunpoint. This egregious act sheds light on the militia’s criminal nature and the falsehood of its claims to support Gaza, illustrating that its crimes and violations are as heinous as those of the Israeli occupation.

A Glimpse into the Houthi’s Terror Tactics

Al-Eryani detailed in a press statement that the attack on Sheikh al-Hatari’s home, who has been residing in the Netherlands for years, followed orders to seize and confiscate the property. This incident is part of the Houthi’s broader attempts to crush the will of the Yemeni people and force them into submission to their coup d’état and extremist ideologies imported from Iran. The minister emphasized that the Houthi’s actions reveal their true face as a terrorist organization, incapable of coexistence or contributing to peace-building efforts.

Since their coup, the Houthi militia has adopted a systematic policy of confiscating and demolishing homes and forcibly displacing residents. Human rights organizations have documented the destruction of 900 homes belonging to state, military, security personnel, politicians, journalists, rights activists, and civilians across 16 Yemeni provinces.

Call for International Action

Al-Eryani has called on the international community, the United Nations, its special envoy, and human rights organizations to unequivocally condemn this atrocious crime. He urges immediate steps to designate the Houthi militia as a global terrorist organization, cut off its financial, political, and media support, and intensify efforts to help the government regain control and restore security and stability throughout Yemen.
