Information Minister claims the world ignores Iran’s role in destabilizing Yemen’s security and stability.

Houthi Leader's Death in American Airstrikes

Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, recently announced that the Houthi militia confirmed the death of one of its leaders, Hussein Abdullah Mastour Al-Shabli (Abu Jihad). Al-Shabli, from the Maran district in the Saada governorate, was killed in American airstrikes. These strikes targeted a drone manufacturing facility in the “Jurf Al-Sakhar” area, operated by the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades, an internationally recognized terrorist organization. This revelation highlights the suspicious relationship between these terrorist groups and their roles in advancing Iran’s destructive policies and expansionist ambitions in the region.

Iran’s Influence and Proxy Engagement

Al-Eryani elaborated that recent events show Iran and its proxies, especially the Houthi militia, are actively spreading chaos and terrorism. They undermine security and stability in the region. He emphasized that the decade-long war in Yemen was not just against the Houthis. It was a broader conflict against the Iranian regime and its sectarian proxies. According to Al-Eryani, the Houthis serve as a facade for Iran’s expansionist agenda, a reality the Yemeni government has consistently warned about.

Criticism of International Community

The minister criticized the international community for ignoring these truths. He lamented that Yemenis have been left to fight Iran alone, except for support from the Saudi-led coalition. He noted that the international community’s stance often favors the Houthi militia, neglecting legal responsibilities to support the legitimate government and maintain peace.

Iranian Threat Assessment

Al-Eryani pointed out that recent developments confirm the Iranian regime and its sectarian militias have never truly threatened Israel. Instead, they use the Palestinian issue as a cover for mobilization. They implement destructive policies, threaten Arab states, spread chaos, and threaten international interests.

Call for International Action

He called for unified international action against Tehran’s systematic terrorism, which has harmed the region and the world. Al-Eryani urged adherence to the United Nations Charter, international laws, and principles like non-interference and respect for sovereignty. He demanded that Iran stop smuggling weapons and fighters to the Houthis, violating UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

Appeal for Designation as Terrorist Organization

Al-Eryani appealed to the international community to designate the Houthi militia as a “global terrorist organization.” He called for sanctions, asset freezes, travel bans for leaders, and legal coordination to pursue members and supporters. He stressed the importance of international cooperation in intelligence sharing, combating financing and recruitment, and preventing logistical support for the militia.
