Minister of Health Discusses Support for Yemen's Healthcare Sector

Today, Dr. Qassem Baheeb, Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population, met with British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, to explore ways to enhance support for the healthcare sector in Yemen.

Current Priorities for Yemen’s Healthcare

During the meeting, Minister Baheeb outlined the current priorities for the healthcare sector amid Yemen’s challenging circumstances. He expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the United Kingdom, emphasizing the importance of its continuation. The minister highlighted that this assistance plays a crucial role in addressing the healthcare needs of the Yemeni population.

First Health System Conference

Minister Baheeb also mentioned the recent First Health System Conference held in the temporary capital, Aden. This conference focused on analyzing the current health situation and identifying key priorities for the sector. He stressed that recovery from the ongoing crisis hinges on the support of healthcare partners.

Commitment from the British Embassy

In response, Ambassador Sharif affirmed her commitment to collaborating with other partners to implement a matrix of needs and priorities for Yemen’s healthcare sector. This cooperation aims to strengthen the healthcare system and improve health outcomes for the Yemeni people.

Attendance and Support

Dr. Mohammed Al-Qabati, the health attaché at the Yemeni embassy in Riyadh, attended the meeting, underscoring the collaborative efforts between Yemen and international partners to bolster the healthcare system.

This dialogue marks a significant step towards enhancing healthcare support in Yemen, a country facing severe health challenges. The commitment from both the Yemeni government and international partners is vital for the future of Yemen’s healthcare landscape.
