Head of Leadership Council praises Hadhramaut’s civil institutions for their role in local development.

In a significant meeting held at the Presidential Palace in the city of Mukalla, His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, accompanied by Council member Sheikh Osman Majali, engaged with a team from civil society organizations backed by the national private sector. This gathering marked a pioneering endeavor to showcase the social responsibility of the business and financial community.

The team presented the activities of various institutions in Hadramout, including those focused on development, culture, and the unique Doan Mud Architecture, as well as Adalah for Legal Development. The presentation highlighted the Hadramout Foundation for Human Development’s programs, which encompass general education, scholarships and training programs, a language institute, technical education, and a graduates’ club. The team reported that over 143,000 students have benefited from the Foundation’s programs, including more than 5,800 participants in scholarship and training initiatives.

Further, the team showcased the cultural programs of the Hadramout Foundation for Culture, which cover literature, theater, heritage symphonies, and cultural management. The Doan Foundation for Mud Architecture was noted for its work in preserving historical sites and landmarks, while the Adalah Foundation offers specialized services in legal development and peacebuilding.

In a separate segment, plans to combat drought and mitigate the impacts of climate change in the Hadramout region were discussed.

President Al-Alimi praised the contributions of Hadramout’s civil institutions across various sectors during the meeting. He also expressed his appreciation for the significant contributions from Sheikh Abdullah BaKshan, a leading figure in the country’s national private sector, and the youth leading these programs, who together exemplify dedicated community participation in local development.

The meeting was attended by Hadramout’s Governor Mabkhout bin Madi and the Presidential Leadership Council’s advisor, Engineer Omar Al-Amoudi, highlighting the importance of these initiatives and the collective effort towards sustainable development in the region.
