Strengthening Diplomatic Ties

In a significant move to bolster diplomatic relations and cooperation, Dr. Shaia Al-Zindani, the Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, visited the Russian Diplomatic Academy, an institution affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his visit, Minister Al-Zindani met with the Academy’s President, Ambassador Alexander Vladimirovich Yakovenko, and several members of the Academy’s faculty.

Exploring Opportunities for Collaboration

The visit allowed Minister Al-Zindani to gain insights into the pivotal role the Russian Diplomatic Academy plays in training diplomatic personnel, enhancing capabilities, and conducting research and studies related to foreign policy among other tasks. Discussions with the Academy’s Director revolved around potential areas of collaboration, particularly in leveraging the Academy’s expertise to train Yemeni diplomatic cadres.

Minister Al-Zindani proposed opportunities for the Academy to assist in the professional development of Yemeni diplomats, including hosting Yemeni diplomats at the Academy and sending some of its lecturers to conduct training courses for the staff of the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the temporary capital, Aden.

A Milestone Agreement

The talks culminated in an agreement to sign a memorandum of understanding for joint cooperation between the Russian Diplomatic Academy and the Diplomatic Institute of the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This agreement marks a significant step towards enhancing the skills of Yemeni diplomats and fostering closer ties between Yemen and Russia.
