In a significant diplomatic engagement, Dr. Shaia Al-Zindani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with Leonid Slutsky, the head of the International Relations Committee of the Russian Parliament (Duma), on Thursday. The meeting focused on exploring and enhancing the friendly bilateral relations between Yemen and Russia.
During the discussions, both parties delved into ways to develop and bolster their countries’ ties. The Yemeni Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of parliamentary relations between the Yemeni House of Representatives and the Russian Duma. He praised the longstanding bilateral relations with Russia and appreciated the Russian Federation government’s support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, government, and people.
Commitment to Peace
Dr. Al-Zindani reiterated the Yemeni government’s commitment to all efforts aimed at ending the war and achieving peace in Yemen, in accordance with nationally, regionally, and internationally recognized references. This reaffirmation underscores Yemen’s dedication to peace and stability in the region.
Russia’s Solidarity with Yemen
On his part, Leonid Slutsky highlighted the strength of the Russian-Yemeni relations. He confirmed the Russian Parliament’s readiness to work towards developing parliamentary relations with the Yemeni House of Representatives. This includes facilitating exchange visits and delegations and coordinating efforts in regional and international forums.
The meeting, which was also attended by Ahmed Al-Wahishi, the Yemeni Ambassador to Moscow, marks a step forward in strengthening the ties between Yemen and Russia. Both nations expressed a keen interest in continuing their collaboration and support for each other on various fronts.
This diplomatic engagement reflects the mutual desire to enhance cooperation and foster a stronger relationship between Yemen and Russia, with a focus on peace, stability, and development for both countries.
