In a significant meeting today, Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mustafa Noman, engaged with Simon Holima, the Deputy Representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Yemen. The discussion took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in the temporary capital, Aden. The two officials explored ways to enhance collaboration between the Yemeni government and the WFP to address the escalating humanitarian challenges in the country, largely stemming from the Houthi militia’s coup.
During the meeting, Noman praised the WFP’s ongoing efforts to provide essential services to those in need. He emphasized the Yemeni government’s commitment to facilitating the WFP’s operations, ensuring that aid reaches the most vulnerable populations across Yemen. Noman highlighted the necessity of continuous coordination between government entities and the WFP to enhance the effectiveness of relief operations and to prevent any obstacles that could hinder aid delivery.
In response, Simon Holima expressed gratitude for the support the Yemeni government extends to the WFP’s initiatives. He reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to delivering food assistance to those in need throughout various regions of Yemen. Holima underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination with government agencies to achieve shared humanitarian goals.
The meeting also included the Director of the Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Muthana Al-Amri, who contributed to the discussions on enhancing collaborative efforts.
This dialogue marks a crucial step in addressing Yemen’s humanitarian crisis, as both parties aim to work together to alleviate the suffering of millions affected by the ongoing conflict.
