Yemen’s Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Mohsen Mohammed Al-Dhaeri, has declared that the Yemeni armed forces stand fully prepared to execute their constitutional and national duties. These responsibilities include liberating Yemeni territories from Houthi control and eliminating their presence, which poses a threat to regional and international security, as well as vital maritime routes.
In an interview with the Saudi newspaper “Okaz,” Al-Dhaeri emphasized that the Yemeni government has responded positively to all peaceful initiatives. However, he criticized the Houthis for their persistent continuation of hostilities. He described their agenda as extremist and racially motivated, serving Iranian interests and destabilizing the region. This ongoing conflict has turned the lives of Yemenis into a continuous struggle. Al-Dhaeri pointed out that the Houthis have repeatedly violated agreements and committed daily breaches during fragile ceasefires.
The Defense Minister highlighted the Yemeni armed forces’ readiness to engage in the liberation battle. He stressed the importance of bolstering the capabilities of the Yemeni army, which he views as the true guarantee for restoring security and stability. This support is crucial to countering Houthi threats that have extended to international navigation through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
Al-Dhaeri revealed that the Houthis have transformed their controlled areas into weapons depots and training centers for Iranian elements and other extremist groups, such as Hezbollah. This situation poses a significant threat to international peace and security. He also noted the severe damage inflicted on Yemen’s economy and society due to Houthi practices, including the destruction of economic facilities and the imposition of taxes.
The Yemeni state remains committed to reclaiming all territories and ending the rebellion and terrorism. Al-Dhaeri asserted that the Houthis have shown no willingness to engage in any peace process. Instead, they rely on plundering resources and imposing levies to maintain their control.
In closing, Al-Dhaeri emphasized that confronting the Houthis and eradicating their threat is the only way to achieve security and stability in Yemen and the broader region. He asserted that the moment of resolution is approaching, and the era of rebellion and destruction is nearing its end without return.
