Tarik Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, has urged for increased cultural and artistic efforts to bolster Yemen’s national struggle. He highlighted the significant historical role that art has played in the Yemeni people’s fight for their rights throughout various periods.
During a meeting today with the Republic Choir, Saleh emphasized the importance of contemporary artistic works reflecting republican awareness. He stated that these works should support the critical battle Yemenis are waging to reclaim their state. Furthermore, he noted the unifying power of national art, which can bring people together despite differing agendas.
Saleh recalled the contributions of prominent artists who have served the nation, revolution, and republic since the dawn of the September 26 Revolution. He expressed his condemnation of the Houthi militia’s attempts to extinguish the flame of Yemen’s rich artistic heritage.
Additionally, Saleh pointed out that the Houthi militia targets the artistic sector as an integral part of the collective national identity that they oppose. He stated, “The Houthi militia seeks to erase the legacy of Yemen’s national and republican art.” This assertion underscores the ongoing struggle to preserve Yemen’s cultural identity amid the current conflict.
In conclusion, Saleh’s remarks serve as a rallying cry for artists and cultural advocates to engage actively in supporting Yemen’s national identity and resistance efforts. By fostering a vibrant artistic community, Yemen can strengthen its resolve and unity in the face of adversity.
