Yemen’s Political Landscape and Economic Reforms
Today, Tareq Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with the U.S. Charge d’Affaires in Yemen to discuss recent developments in Yemen and the broader region. The conversation focused on the ongoing economic reforms and the security of maritime navigation in the Red Sea.
Efforts Against Iranian Arms Smuggling
The two officials also addressed the comprehensive efforts to combat Iranian arms smuggling to Houthi militias. Saleh highlighted the National Resistance’s initiatives and the contributions of other national forces in deterring these activities. He specifically mentioned a significant operation that led to the seizure of 750 tons of Iranian weapons in the Red Sea.
U.S. Support for Yemen’s Stability
In response, the U.S. official praised the operation, reaffirming America’s support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, and the Central Bank of Yemen in their quest for economic stability.

The meeting also included Nasser Baajil, a member of the Yemeni Parliament, and Geeta Qasim, the Deputy Charge d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy.
This dialogue underscores the ongoing collaboration between Yemen and the United States in addressing critical security and economic challenges in the region.
