In a distressing incident on Tuesday, a child suffered severe injuries following an attack by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in populated areas of northwest Al-Dhale province, in the south of Yemen.
Local sources reported that the Houthi militias launched a mortar attack on the town of Qaruz in the Hajar area, which is administratively part of Al-Dhale directorate, on Tuesday. The shelling targeted civilian areas, highlighting the ongoing violence in the region.
One of the mortars tragically landed on the house of a civilian, Adel Ismail Abdoul, resulting in severe wounds to his son, Sultan. Sources added that the injured child was immediately transported to a hospital, where he underwent surgical operations in the abdominal area. Sultan is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, battling the injuries sustained from the attack.
The areas north and west of Al-Dhale have been under constant attack by the Houthi terrorist militias, causing numerous casualties, including both deaths and injuries. The persistent targeting of civilian areas by the militias has led to a significant humanitarian crisis in the region.
This attack is part of a series of aggressive actions by the Houthi militia, underscoring the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Yemen. The international community continues to call for an end to the violence that has devastated the lives of countless civilians in the country.
