Tariq Saleh, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, has directed the West Coast emergency committee to continue providing relief to flood victims. He emphasized the need to improve response mechanisms to ensure timely assistance reaches all affected individuals without delay. During a comprehensive meeting held via video call today, Saleh highlighted the importance of expanding the response scope to cover every affected household. He also called for the active involvement of civil society and youth sectors in this crucial humanitarian effort.
National Resistance Against Houthi Influence
Saleh stressed that the current situation demands the mobilization of all energies towards resisting the Houthi forces. He pointed out that the National Resistance’s immediate response stems from its foundational principles of aiding those in distress, alongside its military role in the battle to restore the state. Saleh criticized the Houthis’ attempts to undermine national identity and misinform the youth, underscoring the need to counter such misleading narratives through practical steps in humanitarian, developmental, and educational areas. He reaffirmed the commitment to the principles of the September and October revolutions to fight against these malicious acts.
Houthi Exploitation of the Palestinian Cause
The council member also addressed the Houthis’ exploitation of the Palestinian cause, noting their lack of genuine support for the Palestinians. He warned of the catastrophic consequences of Houthi actions on the Yemeni people.
Gratitude for Rescue and Relief Efforts
Saleh expressed deep gratitude to everyone involved in the rescue and relief operations from the onset of the disaster, including both civil and military sectors. He paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives while fulfilling their duty to save flood victims.
This directive underscores the Yemeni leadership’s commitment to addressing the immediate needs of flood victims and highlights the broader struggle against Houthi forces within the context of national integrity and humanitarian response.
