Journalists and activists have launched an online campaign under the hashtag #HouthiThoughtKillsChildhood. This initiative aims to shed light on the violations committed by the Houthi militia against children through what they call “summer centers.” These centers have transformed into ideological and sectarian indoctrination camps, instilling extremist ideas that promote hatred and violence. This alarming trend poses a significant threat to the future of Yemen.
The campaign urges parents to protect their children from becoming victims of these centers. Participants emphasize the importance of raising public awareness about the dangers posed by these institutions. They assert that these centers forcibly recruit children and indoctrinate them with sectarian ideologies, leading to family disintegration and jeopardizing social peace.
Experts have pointed out that these centers prepare children mentally for combat, turning them into victims of violence or instruments of conflict. The campaign participants call on the United Nations and child rights organizations to take urgent action to halt these organized crimes.
The ongoing campaign highlights a critical issue affecting Yemen’s youth. By raising awareness and advocating for immediate intervention, activists hope to protect children from the harmful influence of extremist ideologies.
