Minister of Information and Culture Visits Prominent Figures in Al-Mahra

Acknowledging Contributions to Yemen’s Development

On Saturday, Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani, accompanied by the First Deputy Governor of Al-Mahra, Mukhtar Bin Owaid, and the President of Al-Mahra University, Dr. Anwar Kalshat, visited Ali Salem BaKreit, a notable national and parliamentary figure, at his home in Al-Ghaydah.

During the visit, Al-Eryani conveyed greetings from President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, members of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the Prime Minister. He emphasized that this visit reflects the government’s commitment to honoring political and social figures who have significantly contributed to the nation throughout various stages of its history.

Celebrating Legacy and Engagement

Al-Eryani expressed his delight in visiting a political and cultural figure of BaKreit’s stature, recognizing his substantial contributions to the nation, society, and culture, in addition to his parliamentary role. He conveyed pride in engaging with such national figures, highlighting the importance of acknowledging the efforts of those who laid the foundations for a prosperous Yemen.

In response, BaKreit expressed gratitude for this thoughtful gesture. He shared his optimism for a bright future for the unified federal Yemen, which he believes should embrace all its citizens. BaKreit called for unity among all national parties, stressing the critical role of active figures in monitoring government performance to ensure they fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

A Legacy of Activism

BaKreit, a seasoned activist, has historical ties to the Arab Nationalist Movement and the National Front. He actively participated in the Yemeni student movement in both northern and southern regions. He served as a member of the first parliament after Yemen’s unification and continues to hold membership in the Central Committee of the Yemeni Socialist Party.

Acknowledging Cultural Contributions

Following the visit to BaKreit, Al-Eryani, along with Al-Jaafari and Kalshat, paid a visit to cultural figure and writer Saad Makbal Kida. Al-Eryani extended greetings from the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, council members, and the Prime Minister. He praised Kida’s national contributions throughout his career and wished him continued health and wellbeing.

Al-Eryani commended Kida’s dedication to preserving Al-Mahra’s cultural heritage and acknowledged his efforts in education and his role as the General Director of Planning.

Kida expressed his appreciation for the minister’s visit, calling for greater recognition of the unsung heroes who contribute significantly to various fields and initiatives without seeking rewards. He also commended the local authority in Al-Mahra for its efforts across different sectors.
