Today, a women’s forum titled “From Revolution to Peace: The Role of Female Journalists in Building a New Yemen” took place in Marib Governorate. The event, organized by the Media Women for Peace team in collaboration with the Yamaniyat Development Association, aimed to highlight the significant contributions of women in Yemen’s ongoing transformation.
Key Discussions and Presentations
The forum featured notable attendees, including Abdulrahman Al-Nahari, Deputy Minister of Culture, along with various media professionals and women leaders. Participants engaged with four key presentations delivered by Dr. Yahya Al-Ahmadi from the Media Department at the University of Al-Jawf, journalist and writer Jamal Anam, and media figures Hagar Al-Hajily and Bushra Al-Mazajji.
The presentations examined women’s pivotal roles in the struggles and awareness campaigns during the September 26 and October 14 revolutions. Speakers emphasized how women significantly contributed to the success of these revolutions and their ongoing involvement in Yemen’s development and decision-making processes. They also addressed the current threats to the nation’s identity and revolution, highlighting the resurgence of feudalism and colonial remnants.
Call to Action for Women’s Empowerment
The discussions underscored the necessity of revitalizing women’s roles in confronting these dangers. Participants called for efforts to restore peace in Yemen, recover hijacked state institutions, and build a new federal Yemen. They stressed the importance of education, training, and empowering women to actively participate in the current struggle for peace.
Moreover, attendees advocated for the formation of a women’s coalition to unify various networks, initiatives, and organizations. This coalition would enhance women’s contributions to decision-making and uphold the goals of the September and October revolutions.
The forum successfully fostered constructive discussions on the importance of women’s involvement in shaping Yemen’s future. It highlighted the need for continued advocacy and support for women in media and leadership roles, ensuring their voices are heard in the quest for a peaceful and prosperous Yemen.
