A thick cloud of volcanic ash and smoke has erupted from Mount Etna on the Italian island of Sicily, prompting Catania Airport to suspend incoming flights today. The airport announced the closure of airspace due to the volcanic cloud.

Flight Suspension Details

According to a statement from the airport, the volcanic activity at Mount Etna and the subsequent ash emissions necessitated the closure of airspace in sector C1. As a result, all incoming flights have been suspended until 12:00 PM local time. However, departing flights continue to operate normally.
