A tribal gunman killed a merchant in Bani Sarim amid rising insecurity in Houthi-controlled areas.

Trader Killed in Shooting Incident in Northern Yemen

A trader was shot and killed on Tuesday inside his shop in the Saananiyah area of Bani Sarim, located in northern Amran province. Local sources and eyewitnesses report that the assailant, a tribal gunman with a history of fighting alongside Houthi militias, carried out the attack.

Details of the Incident

According to reports, the victim, Mahmoud Hassan Al-Raabi, suffered direct gunfire from a man hailing from the Al-Oseimat region. The situation escalated from light-hearted banter between the two men to a heated argument, which ultimately led to the gunman opening fire, resulting in Al-Raabi’s immediate death.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Following the shooting, local residents apprehended the suspect before handing him over to the Houthi authorities. He now faces detention at the central prison in Amran province.

Rising Security Concerns

This tragic incident highlights the increasing security instability and proliferation of firearms in areas controlled by Houthi militias. The lack of effective judicial mechanisms and accountability has contributed to a surge in crime rates, with numerous casualties reported in recent days.

Expert Observations

Observers note that the rise in criminal activity correlates with the growing number of graduates from military and ideological training programs organized by the Houthis. These initiatives have contributed to a noticeable increase in violence within Yemeni society.

This incident underscores the urgent need for improved security measures and judicial reforms to address the escalating violence in the region.
