Today, the Republic issued Decree No. (2) for the year 2026, establishing a Health Fund. This initiative builds on the efforts of our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is based on an agreement signed with the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen. The fund aims to support the sustainability of healthcare facilities, strengthen the capabilities of the Ministry of Health, and enhance collaboration with counterpart organizations in Saudi Arabia.
The decree consists of 33 articles divided into five chapters. These chapters cover the fund’s name, definitions, establishment, objectives, tasks, management mechanisms, financing, and accounting. The final article states that the decree will take effect from the date of its issuance and publication in the official gazette.
The primary goal of the fund is to improve the efficiency of the healthcare sector. It will provide necessary financing for the operation and management of health facilities. Additionally, the fund aims to integrate local and international efforts to enhance governance and elevate the quality of healthcare services.
The fund will actively mobilize financial resources to support health activities. It plans to provide funding for the operation of public health facilities according to plans and standards that ensure sustainable and high-quality services. Furthermore, the fund will finance programs aimed at capacity building, governance enhancement, and operational efficiency.
To achieve its goals, the fund will work to attract funding from public, private, and international sectors. It will establish partnerships with the private sector to finance health programs that benefit citizens. Additionally, the fund will support initiatives and projects related to emergency response, natural disasters, and epidemics.
The establishment of the Health Fund marks a significant step toward improving Yemen’s healthcare system, ensuring that citizens receive the quality services they deserve.
