Houthi Sniper Injures Local Man in Taiz Amid Rising Violence

A local man in his fifties sustained injuries early Friday morning from a sniper affiliated with the Houthi militia in northern Taiz. This incident marks the latest escalation in Houthi attacks against civilians in the city.

Details of the Incident

Local sources report that 50-year-old Mahfoud Hamoud Ali Al-Makhlafi was shot in the neck while standing near his home on Al-Arbaeen Street in the Cairo district. A Houthi sniper, positioned in the Al-Mahdar hill, targeted him. Emergency responders transported Al-Makhlafi to a local hospital for treatment.

Recent Attacks on Civilians

This shooting follows a series of recent incidents where four women were injured in separate attacks. These included shelling that struck a house in the Al-Muqbina district, located west of the province, and the sniper shooting of two women in the Al-Shaqab area, southeast of the city.

Increasing Military Tensions

Taiz has witnessed a significant rise in military activity from the Houthi militia. The group has intensified its targeting of residential neighborhoods and frontline areas.
