On Sunday, Tarik Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, visited the sports facilities in Al-Mokha, located in the Taiz Governorate. During his visit, he assessed the extent of the damage inflicted on the sports hall, which suffered destruction due to shelling by Houthi militias during the liberation of Al-Mokha.

Plans for a Modern Sports Complex

During the tour, Saleh announced plans to establish a modern sports complex in Al-Mokha. He emphasized that the project will be designed according to the highest standards to meet the needs of athletes and support youth in the Taiz and Al-Hudaydah governorates.

Prime Minister Calls for National Energy Conference

In a separate development, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak directed preparations for a national energy conference. This initiative aims to gather international support and funding for the government’s electricity sector strategy. The goal is to find sustainable solutions that ensure reliable service, which is essential for economic and social development, while also expanding the use of renewable energy sources.

Collaboration with the Private Sector

During a Ramadan gathering in the temporary capital, Aden, the Prime Minister met with leaders from the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, the General Electricity Corporation, and Aden Electricity. He stressed the importance of coordination and partnership with the national private sector to organize the conference. He also called for a comprehensive work program that aligns with the government’s objectives to enhance generation capacity and renewable energy, leveraging Yemen’s resources.

Updates on Renewable Energy Projects

Dr. bin Mubarak informed attendees about the outcomes of the Supreme Energy Council meeting and the importance of translating these decisions into actionable plans to address the upcoming summer’s electricity needs in Aden and liberated governorates. He underscored the necessity for all ministries and relevant entities to fulfill their responsibilities and hold accountable any shortcomings in performance, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

Strategies for Summer Preparedness

Minister of Electricity and Energy, Mani’ bin Yameen, along with ministry officials, presented plans to enhance readiness for the upcoming summer. They discussed improving power stations, maintaining networks, and ensuring the supply of fuel to meet the electricity sector’s needs. They highlighted strategies to develop the energy sector and foster strategic partnerships with the private sector, as well as collaboration with international organizations.

Commitment to Reform and Efficiency

The Prime Minister reiterated the importance of implementing these plans and transforming them into reality. He called for a review of the traditional methods currently used in the electricity sector and stressed the need for genuine reforms. He pointed out that his directive to cancel purchased energy contracts is a crucial step in reforming the electricity sector, aiming to reduce unnecessary expenses that burden the state budget without providing real benefits to citizens.

The Ramadan gathering included several notable attendees, such as the Prime Minister’s advisor, Ambassador Mujib Othman, Deputy Minister of Finance Hani Wahab, Executive Director of the Prime Minister’s Technical Team Jamal bin Ghanem, and representatives from PetroMasila and the President Gas Station.
