Governor of Hadhramaut Reviews Preparations for Heritage and Tourism Conference

Governor Mabkhoot bin Madi of Hadhramaut visited the Cultural Development Foundation “Al-Ranad” in the Tarim district today to assess preparations for the upcoming heritage and tourism conference.

Engaging Cultural Activities Planned

During the visit, the governor, accompanied by Assistant Governor Fahmi Ba-Dawy and the Director General of the Heritage and Cultural Development Fund in Hadhramaut, Faiz Baqtiyan, listened to the foundation’s president, Ahmed Ba-Hamala. Ba-Hamala outlined various cultural programs and activities organized by the foundation, which include a camel racing event, traditional games, and preparations for the inauguration of an equestrian and camel club.

Governor bin Madi emphasized the local authority’s support for heritage and cultural activities. He reiterated the importance of the foundation’s efforts in preserving cultural heritage and promoting diverse activities.

Efforts Against Cancer and Environmental Issues

In addition, Governor bin Madi reviewed the activities of the Hadhramaut Cancer Control Foundation “Amal” for the year 2024. The foundation focuses on combating cancer, tobacco use, khat consumption, and environmental pollution while enhancing disease prevention efforts.

The governor received updates from the foundation’s Board Chairman, Dr. Abdulqader Ba-Zaid, and Executive Director Dr. Walid Al-Battati. They discussed the foundation’s initiative to acquire a modern CT scanner from General Electric, supported by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in Kuwait. They also highlighted the preparation of a chemotherapy unit in the Al-Diis Eastern district and provided a general report on the foundation’s programs implemented during the current and previous year.

Improving Cancer Care Services

The meeting also addressed the development of services offered to cancer patients at the oncology center in Mukalla and explored potential alternatives for enhancing the center’s capabilities.

Governor bin Madi praised the foundation’s services in cancer treatment and prevention, which extend to all citizens of the nation. He described the Hadhramaut Cancer Control Foundation as a leader in patient care and consultation, facilitating the establishment of oncology centers in various governorates across the country, leveraging over 13 years of expertise from its staff.

The governor’s visit underscores the commitment of local authorities to cultural preservation and health initiatives in Hadhramaut. The planned heritage and tourism conference aims to celebrate and promote the region’s rich cultural heritage while addressing critical health challenges.
