Houthi Militias Intensify Military Preparations Around Taiz
Colonel Abd al-Basit Al-Bahr Reports New Houthi Reinforcements
Colonel Abd al-Basit Al-Bahr, head of the Moral Guidance Department in the Taiz Axis, revealed that Houthi militias are amassing new reinforcements and conducting engineering works, including trench digging, in the vicinity of Taiz city.
Recent Houthi Attempts to Breach Army Positions
In the past three days, the Houthi forces attempted to infiltrate army positions seven times around the city and in the western countryside of the province. Colonel Al-Bahr stated that the militias also launched artillery attacks north of the city. Furthermore, clashes erupted between the army and the militias, involving medium and heavy machine gun fire in the Al-Anin front on the outskirts of Jabal Habashi, west of Taiz.
Ongoing Military Activities and Training
The colonel emphasized that the Houthi militias continue their efforts to mobilize and recruit fighters. They are digging trenches and conducting military engineering works in the city’s periphery while training combatants and individuals misled into joining their ranks. These forces are being directed toward the fronts in Taiz, the western coast, and other battlefields.
National Army’s Readiness and Response
Colonel Al-Bahr assured that the national army remains fully prepared and combat-ready. They have successfully thwarted all Houthi infiltration attempts, inflicting significant losses on the militias in both equipment and personnel, while the Houthis have not made any territorial gains.
Escalating Houthi Hostilities Amid International Calls for Peace
This escalation occurs despite ongoing international and regional calls for de-escalation and negotiations to resolve the protracted conflict in Yemen. The Houthi militias continue to intensify their aggressive operations across various fronts, challenging efforts for peace.
The situation in Taiz remains critical as military tensions rise, and the need for a diplomatic resolution becomes increasingly urgent.
