Military officials state that decisive action is key to lifting Yemen from the depths of darkness.

Yemeni Army Calls for Military Resolution to End Ongoing Conflict

The Yemeni Army has firmly stated that achieving peace with a militia that thrives on violence, displacement, and looting is impossible. In a recent editorial published in the military’s official newspaper, 26 September, the army emphasized that any attempts at peace with such groups merely serve to prolong their crimes against the Yemeni people, which have persisted for over a decade.

Criticism of Peace Initiatives

The editorial criticized what it described as a “false peace initiative,” asserting that the media’s portrayal of these efforts only legitimizes the militia. The army pointed out that the militia has increasingly taken on a dominant role, dictating terms and conditions, as highlighted by statements from the self-proclaimed Foreign Minister of their illegitimate government.

Emphasis on Military Action

The army underscored that military action remains the only viable solution against a militia that embraces war, destruction, and chaos as part of its ideology. This ideology, they argue, aligns closely with the interests of Iran, which they refer to as a state of terrorism in the region and worldwide.

Foreign Interference and National Sovereignty

The editorial also condemned foreign interference, labeling it a significant betrayal of Yemen’s national project. The army stated that allowing militias to pursue agendas that clash with Yemen’s sovereignty undermines the country’s political and economic independence. They called for decisive military action, arguing that it is the only path to lift Yemen from the depths of despair caused by prolonged dialogues, ceasefires, and uncritical acceptance of United Nations recommendations.

Lessons from Sudan’s Military Success

Drawing a parallel with Sudan, the army praised the Sudanese military for refusing to negotiate with a rival militia, which they believe prevented the legitimization of shared sovereignty. By maintaining a firm stance, Sudan successfully regained control over territories previously held by the militia, restoring the nation’s dignity and regional standing.

The Need for Strength and Resolve

The army concluded by stating that the international community does not respect the weak or those who compromise their sovereignty. This raises a critical question for Yemen: Will the nation adopt a decisive approach, or will it remain trapped in a cycle of indecision and conflict?

The army’s call for military resolution reflects a broader sentiment among many Yemenis who seek an end to the ongoing violence and instability that has plagued their country for years.
