Yemen’s Ministry of Human Rights Welcomes UN Resolution on Technical Assistance
The Ministry of Human Rights in Yemen has welcomed the unanimous adoption of a resolution by the United Nations Human Rights Council. The resolution, titled A/HRC/63/L.33, focuses on providing technical assistance and capacity building for Yemen in the field of human rights under agenda item ten.
Reflection of International Support
In a statement, the ministry emphasized that the adoption of this resolution reflects ongoing international support for the Yemeni government and its national institutions. It also strengthens their efforts in protecting human rights and building institutional capacities. The ministry noted that this consensus results from diplomatic efforts and joint coordination between the ministry, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Yemen in Geneva, and supportive brotherly and friendly nations.
Appreciation for Supportive Nations
The ministry expressed gratitude to the Republic of Iraq, which served as the chair of the Arab Group, for presenting the resolution. It also thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and members of the core group, along with all countries that sponsored and supported the resolution’s adoption. The ministry affirmed the importance of this support in assisting national institutions and enabling them to address the human rights situation in Yemen.
Commitment to Implementation
The Ministry of Human Rights confirmed its commitment to monitoring the implementation of the resolution. It will coordinate with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and relevant national institutions. This coordination aims to direct technical assistance and capacity-building programs toward actual needs, enhancing the ability of institutions to perform their duties in protecting rights and freedoms.
