Libyan Presidential Council Reaffirms Support for Yemen’s Leadership

Libyan Presidential Council President Mohammed Al-Menfi has reiterated Libya’s unwavering support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. This commitment aims to uphold the security, unity, and stability of Yemen.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

During a meeting today at the council’s headquarters in Tripoli, President Al-Menfi welcomed Yemen’s Ambassador to Libya, Dr. Hassan Al-Hard. He emphasized the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two nations. Al-Menfi expressed Libya’s dedication to enhancing cooperation and coordination between the countries to serve their mutual interests and bolster regional security and stability.

Diplomatic Exchanges

President Al-Menfi tasked Ambassador Al-Hard with conveying his greetings to His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council.

In response, Ambassador Al-Hard delivered greetings from President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi to President Mohammed Al-Menfi. He provided an overview of the current situation in Yemen, highlighting the military escalation by the Houthi terrorist militias, particularly in Al-Hudaydah, Taiz, and Lahij.

Concerns Over Regional Stability

Ambassador Al-Hard pointed out the military support that the Iranian regime provides to these terrorist militias, aiming to fulfill its ambitions in the region and destabilize Yemen. He also discussed the implications of the terrorist coordination between the Houthi militias and Al-Shabab in Somalia, which poses a threat to global economies and international shipping in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, as well as to oil and energy supplies.

Humanitarian Crisis and Government Response

The ambassador noted that this escalation has exacerbated the humanitarian situation, leading to the displacement of tens of thousands of civilians. He reaffirmed the Yemeni government’s firm stance against the terrorist militias, aiming to restore state institutions, secure international trade, and ensure maritime navigation in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, as well as the safe passage of international oil and energy supplies.
