The Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology has warned that several governorates in the republic will experience varying intensity thunderstorms, which may be locally heavy from September 14 to 16.
Expected Affected Areas
According to the warning bulletin issued today:
- Thunderstorms of varying intensity will affect parts of the highlands and western and southwestern slopes.
- The impacts will concentrate in the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Al-Dhale, Dhamar, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, and Hajjah.
- There is a possibility that rainfall will extend to parts of Lahij, Abyan, and Shabwa, with expectations of locally heavy rainfall in some areas.
- Varying intensity rainfall will also occur in parts of Hadramaut, Al-Mahrah, and the Socotra Archipelago, particularly in coastal areas and nearby highlands.
Warnings for Citizens
The center urges citizens to:
- Avoid riverbeds and flood channels and refrain from crossing them during or after rainfall.
- Exercise caution when using muddy or slippery roads in affected areas.
- Stay away from electric poles, billboards, and trees during thunderstorms.
- Be cautious of wind activity associated with storms and the potential risks to public safety.
