Yemeni Army Thwarts Houthi Attack in Al-Dhala
On Wednesday evening, Yemeni Army forces successfully repelled a fierce assault launched by Houthi militia on their positions in the Al-Thukhb sector of northern Al-Dhala province. The clashes lasted for several hours, resulting in intense fighting between the two sides.
Details of the Houthi Attack
Military sources confirmed that the skirmishes began when the militia executed a surprise attack on several frontline positions held by the army. The Houthis employed heavy artillery fire in an attempt to breach the army’s defensive lines. However, the Yemeni forces effectively countered the assault, forcing the militia to retreat.
Casualties on Both Sides
The confrontations resulted in significant casualties for the Houthi militia, with reports indicating the deaths of numerous militia members. Conversely, four soldiers from the Yemeni Army lost their lives, and ten others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Targeting Civilians in Al-Dhala
This attack followed shortly after the Houthi militia targeted civilian areas in northern Al-Dhala with mortar shells, injuring one civilian. Such actions highlight the ongoing hostile practices of the militia against civilians in the region.
Ongoing Conflict in Northern and Western Al-Dhala
The fighting fronts in northern and western Al-Dhala continue to experience sporadic clashes due to the militia’s persistent aggressive operations. Despite repeated attempts by the Houthis to achieve any territorial gains, all efforts have failed against the resilience of the Yemeni Army.
