The destroyed materials included a variety of military ordnance, specifically:

  • 321 assorted shells
  • 3,465 assorted bullets
  • 41 anti-personnel mines
  • 11 anti-tank mines
  • 31 assorted hand grenades
  • 2 thermal missiles
  • 15 explosive devices
  • 322 steel arrows
  • 333 assorted fuses
  • 32 boxes of propellant charges

Efforts of the Special Operations Team

Engineer Munther Qassem, leader of the first special operations team at Masam, explained that the remnants were collected from three governorates: Aden, Abyan, and Lahij. These actions are part of the team’s commitment to secure and clear areas of unexploded ordnance.

Warnings About the Dangers of Remnants

Qassem warned that remnants of war still pose a direct threat to civilian lives. He emphasized that tampering with suspicious objects or approaching them can lead to tragic accidents, particularly among children and women. Therefore, he urged citizens to avoid handling any suspected war remnants and to report them to the relevant authorities immediately.
