President Alimi Holds Meeting with Yemeni Diplomats

On Saturday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened a meeting with Yemeni ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions abroad. The meeting took place in the presence of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani.

Acknowledging Diplomatic Efforts

During the meeting, President Alimi expressed gratitude on behalf of the Council and the government for the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions. He emphasized their role in representing Yemen and serving its citizens and national interests abroad during these challenging times. He noted that the responsibilities of diplomatic missions have evolved beyond traditional representation, becoming integral to the defense of the Yemeni Republic, its sovereignty, and its legitimate institutions.

The Changing Nature of National Battles

President Alimi pointed out that recent developments have shown that national battles are no longer confined to the battlefield. Instead, they unfold across various capitals, organizations, media outlets, lobbying groups, and decision-making centers. He stated, “The success of any military or political battle now hinges on our ability to win international support, establish a national narrative, and protect the truth from disinformation campaigns.”

Addressing Houthi Escalation

The President discussed the measures the government has taken in recent days to address the latest Houthi escalation politically, diplomatically, and militarily. He stressed the importance of deterring any reckless attempts to impose agendas unrelated to the interests of the Yemeni people.

He remarked, “We have successfully shifted the narrative from portraying this escalation as a mere operational incident to a matter affecting the sovereignty of a UN member state, testing the international community’s commitment to its own rules and resolutions.”

Building International Understanding

President Alimi noted that the Yemeni government has observed an increasing understanding among many friendly and brotherly nations. He emphasized the need to build on this understanding to enhance support for the government and the aspirations of Yemenis for security, stability, and peace.

Diplomatic Guidelines for the Future

The President outlined directives for the heads of diplomatic missions, including efforts to further isolate the Houthi militias internationally while respecting Yemen’s sovereignty and legal status. He stressed that these actions should not harm the interests and humanitarian priorities of the Yemeni people.

Commitment to State Institutions

President Alimi reaffirmed that restoring state institutions is the only path to achieving lasting peace. He welcomed any humanitarian efforts, including the recent Jordanian initiative, highlighting the government’s openness to initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of citizens. However, he made it clear that the state would not allow any flights outside its exclusive jurisdiction, urging the Houthis to prioritize the interests of the Yemeni people over their narrow agendas.

Countering Houthi Narratives

The President instructed the heads of diplomatic missions to continue dismantling misleading Houthi narratives using facts, legal arguments, and international law. He urged them to avoid emotional rhetoric while highlighting the Houthi’s serious human rights violations and their vision that promotes racism and undermines the principles of justice, the rule of law, and equal citizenship.

Meeting Attendees

The meeting also included Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, Minister of Information Moammar Al-Eryani, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mustafa Noman.

This meeting underscores the Yemeni government’s commitment to addressing the ongoing challenges and enhancing its diplomatic efforts on the international stage.
