President Alimi Bids Farewell to Korean Ambassador
On Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Yemen, Do Bong-ki. This meeting marked the conclusion of the ambassador’s tenure in Yemen.
Acknowledging Diplomatic Efforts
During the meeting, President Alimi expressed his appreciation for the ambassador’s diplomatic efforts to strengthen the ties between Yemen and Korea. He wished Ambassador Do success in his future endeavors.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
President Alimi highlighted the mutual trust and respect that underpin the bilateral cooperation between the two nations. He noted that Korea has been a key partner in Yemen’s development, particularly in the oil sector. This partnership has added a strategic dimension that remains significant today.
Support for Yemen’s Aspirations
The president also commended Korea’s support for the Yemeni people and their political leadership. He acknowledged Korea’s contributions to restoring state institutions, peace, and stability, as well as its humanitarian and developmental assistance. Furthermore, he recognized Korea’s responsible role in the United Nations Security Council and its chairmanship of the sanctions committee concerning Yemen.

President Alimi discussed local developments and the government’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations to citizens. He emphasized the ongoing financial, administrative, and institutional reforms and their positive impact on the country’s overall situation. He called for international support to build on these results and achieve sustainable economic recovery.
Acknowledging Saudi Support
In this context, President Alimi praised the significant support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in facilitating economic reforms and alleviating the humanitarian crisis caused by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
Concerns Over Iranian Violations
The president also addressed the repeated Iranian violations of Yemen’s sovereignty, including a recent direct flight to Sana’a Airport, controlled by the Houthi militia. He condemned this act as a blatant challenge to UN Security Council resolutions and international sanctions.
Commitment to International Standards
President Alimi expressed confidence in Korea’s ongoing active role within the Security Council and the sanctions committee. He emphasized the importance of strict enforcement of international decisions and continued support for efforts to monitor Iranian violations. He also called for enhanced international measures to cut off funding and arms supplies to terrorist militias.
