Arab Parliamentary Conference Addresses Key Regional Issues
On Saturday, Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani, the Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, and Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, the Chairman of the Shura Council, participated in the Eighth Arab Parliament Conference. This significant event took place at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, Egypt.
Focus on Palestinian Developments and Regional Security
The conference gathered leaders from various Arab legislative bodies to discuss pressing issues. Key topics included the developments in the Palestinian cause, ongoing Iranian aggressions against Gulf nations and several Arab states, as well as security challenges and regional transformations. In his address, Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani emphasized that the Arab nation faces a critical phase that necessitates unified stances and strengthened Arab cooperation. He noted that Iranian interventions and Israeli occupation pose direct threats to Arab national security. Bin Daghr highlighted Yemen’s vulnerability to Iranian influence, particularly through support for the Houthi militia. He expressed gratitude for the support from the Arab Coalition led by Saudi Arabia in protecting Yemen and preventing state collapse.
